What Is Edestol™?

In essence, Edestol is a program which allows the user to create an electrical equipment, wiring, and raceway system within a database environmentThe system may include power, controls, instrumentation, or communications.  As the user creates the system, the program sizes equipment, protective devices, wiring, and raceways.  The program assists in specifying equipment and allows the user to assign specific mfg/parts to each component.   The program then allows the user to access the information through a variety of lists, schedules, bills of material, or reports.

Who Is It For?

Edestol™ was built for any professional involved in the design or construction of electrical projects in the US, including:

  • Engineers and designers
  • Project managers and estimators
  • Contractors
  • Engineering firms
  • System integrators and panel shops
  • Equipment and material suppliers
  • System or facility owners
  • Inspectors

Key Functions & Features

Design Any System

Handles any residential, commercial, or industrial project. Program capabilities include:

  • All US system voltages up to 35 kV. All phase-wire arrangements.
  • Electrical distribution equipment, panelboards, and motor control centers
  • Single and multiconductor wire and cable (All materials and types)
  • Conduits, cable trays, and boxes (All materials and types)
  • Motors, heaters, receptacles, lights, area loads, and generic loads
  • Fuses, circuit breakers, and disconnects
  • Transformers
  • Motor control devices including starters and drives
  • All types of control, instrumentation, and communication devices
  • And others

Sizing Automation

As the user specifies the system, the Edestol™ program automatically sizes.

  • Services, feeders, and branch circuits
  • Protective devices
  • Distribution equipment
  • Conduits and cable trays
  • As the user modifies the project, the program resizes as necessary

Built-In NEC® Sizing Data

EE Design Tools, LLC has licensed the required NEC® tables, lists, schedules, and rules for use in Edestol™. This data has been reorganized into a proprietary database named Sysdata which is accessed by the program for all sizing calculations.

Note: The software does not contain NEC® text. Users must have access to the official NEC®.

What Edestol™ Creates for You

As you build your project, Edestol™ automatically generates and maintains:

  • Lists of any power or control device
  • Cable and conduit schedules
  • Load schedules and summaries
  • Bill of material reports for any desired cable, raceway, or device
  • Custom view and report of any desired project data

Designed for Flexibility

Edestol™ comes with a user-accessible database labeled Userdata.  It is populated by the user and contains custom information unique to each user or project and includes:

  • Equipment ratings
  • Drive data
  • Wire and cable data
  • System voltages
  • Mfg & PN data
  • Various other components and configurations
  • Report configurations

Designed for Efficiency

Edestol™ has been designed to minimize effort required for your repetitive design. A few examples are:

  • Import motor lists
  • Import control device lists
  • Cable and conduit length entry
  • Make 3-line tags from a single description
  • Automatic wire, cable, conduit, and cable tray resizing on adding cables or changing the ambient conditions
